Our family of companies support industry leaders in hotels & resorts, senior living facilities, hospitals & medical facilities, event venues, restaurants, convention centers and stadiums, colleges & universities, distribution centers, manufacturing & production facilities, and more.We are currently looking for General Cleaners for our busy logistics partner in the Pontiac, MI area. Position Summary General Cleaners are responsible for cleaning and maintaining designated building sites to meet customer and company standards.   Usually works with a crew.   Ensures the delivery of excellent customer service and high-level execution of all tasks assigned.  Essential Duties and Responsibilities  Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following (varies by customer): General housekeeping/janitorial: 
  • Clean furniture, walls, glass, mirrors, fixtures, machines and other equipment (e.G. Dust, wash, vacuum, and polish) 
  • Gather and empty trash 
  • Service, clean and supply restrooms 
  • May move furniture, light fixtures or other items manually or with hand truck 
  • Clean and maintain building floor surfaces, including but not limited to, sweeping, dust mopping, damp mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, de-gumming and spot cleaning 
  • Prevent wear to floor surfaces by using a floor wax or protective sealant 
  • May be assigned to clean totes, including inspecting, cleaning, and disinfecting, using the Wash Station 
 Follow safety guidelines and procedures: 
  • Execute proper use of all equipment  
  • Clean and maintain cleaning equipment per instructions (e.G. Rags, mops, machines, tools and buckets) 
  • Prepare cleaning solutions (water, detergents and other chemicals) according to specifications 
 Be a good steward of the facility: 
  • Monitor and report facility issues requiring repairs (notify Amazon Shift Lead, Amazon Site Manager or Zone Manager) 
  • Monitor building security and safety (lock doors after operating hours and ensure electrical appliances are turned off, etc.) 
 Maintain supply closet: 
  • Properly stack and replace cleaning items and tools 
  • Ensure supplies are available for each shift 
  • Report supply requisition needs to Lead/Manager 
 Market Cleaners: 
  • Use USDA-approved chemicals to disinfect surfaces 
  • Sanitize all components of food production and processing equipment 
  • Disassemble, sanitize, and reassemble food processing equipment 
  • Dispose of waste along the assembly line 
  • Sweep and mop the floors 
  • Dust ventilation ducts to ensure proper airflow 
  • Refill soap and hand towels in the bathrooms 
  • Report potential issues to management 

Additional Duties and Responsibilities Perform all other duties as requested by the customer and confirmed by the Amazon Shift Lead or Amazon Site Manager. 
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies Knowledge: 
  • General familiarity with cleaning best practices 
  • Knows how to set work priorities to work independently but can also coordinate work priorities to work as a member of a team 
Skills: 
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work for efficiencies without minimizing work results 
  • Ability to operate and use janitorial tools, equipment and supplies with or without reasonable accommodation 
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and safe handling for chemicals sheets/documents (generally in English; may have in Spanish where state required)
  • Dependable, honest, strong work ethic, motivated, professional appearance and hygiene, communication skills, team player 
 Educational Qualifications/Job Experience Requirements Experience: 
  • Must successfully pass background check and may be required to pass a drug test depending on the location being serviced; in healthcare settings, drug test is required 
  • Janitorial/housekeeping or comparable experience is a plus 
 Education: 
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred 
 Working Conditions/Physical Requirements  
5a – 4p $15/hr

4p – 3a $15/hr

630p – 5a $16/hr

  • Building and warehouse, which may include varying temperatures and moderate noise levels 
  • In healthcare facilities, may be exposed to medical waste and bloodborne pathogens 
  • Site environment may have varying workstations and varying interactions with customers and staff 
  • Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes/odors, hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long hours and wet and/ or uneven surfaces
